Sanct Social arrives in Australia for sharing everyday life with friends and family

Sanct Social is now available free for iPhone in Australia. Add people you know by QR code or invite code, then choose who can see each post: all your friends, selected friends or only you. New connections can develop through friends of friends. The app carries no advertising.

AUSTRALIA, 27 October 2026. Sanct Social is now available free for iPhone in Australia, giving friends and family a place to share everyday updates and choose who can see each post.

A photo of tonight’s dinner gives a friend something to ask about tomorrow. For a parent living overseas, it is a small look at an ordinary evening. Sanct Social is built for sharing these moments with people you know.

Before publishing each post, users choose its audience: all their friends, selected friends or only themselves. Posts are visible to the people included in that selection. They are not published for anyone browsing the app to see.

Founder Sion Abednego started with one question: how do people stay part of each other’s lives between calls? A call takes time. A message needs a reason. A small update gives a friend an easy reason to reply, even on an ordinary day.

An ordinary day can be worth sharing

Consider a friend who has moved to another city. You may still exchange birthday wishes and arrange a call occasionally. The details in between are harder to keep up with: the meal they cooked, the place they visited, how their day went. These are the kinds of updates Sanct Social is designed to make easier to share.

A person might share a lunch photo with a few friends, send a family update to everyone they have added, or keep a moment for themselves only. The audience is chosen each time, so not every update has to go to the same group.

For Australians with family and friends overseas, those small updates keep a conversation going across the distance. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 8.8 million residents, or 32.0 per cent of the population, were born overseas at 30 June 2025.

Start with people you know

People add a friend by scanning each other’s QR code when they meet. An invite code does the same for people who already know each other but are apart, so a parent or a friend in another country does not have to wait for the next visit.

The circle can grow from there. Friends of friends can find one another and send a request, and the person who receives it decides whether to accept. Someone with no link through your friends cannot find you at all; there is no open search of all users.

Finding a profile and seeing its posts are two different things. A request does not open anyone’s posts. Each post goes only to the audience its author chose, including when a friend introduces someone new.

The first five people are the start, not a limit. The circle grows through people who already know each other, and each person chooses whom to add.

A short product overview introduces Sanct Social and shows the app:

In the film: meet first, then add each other

The company’s short film, Episode 6, “Nice to meet you.”, shows how it works. Five friends spend a day in Jakarta, two of them visiting from Singapore and Malaysia. They meet, spend the day together, then add each other so they can stay in touch.

The characters and conversations are fictional; the app screens are real. Watch Episode 6, “Nice to meet you.”:

Sanct Social is not meant to replace the public platforms where people follow creators, communities and events. It is a separate place for the updates meant for friends and family.

Something to do together

A post starts a conversation. Group chats and voice and video calls are in the app, so friends can keep talking.

The Sanctum is a virtual beach inside the app that opens every evening at six. Friends check in about their day, go fishing and keep a memory journal there. It gives people in different places something simple to do together.

Sancty, the app’s panda companion, is there when the Sanctum opens and offers reminders. She gives the evening a familiar face. The conversations stay between the people in the circle.

The five minute guide shows account creation, adding friends, choosing who sees a post and using the Sanctum:

Available now in Australia

Sanct Social is free to download from the Australian App Store, with English and Indonesian listed as supported languages. An Android version is not yet available. The company plans an optional premium plan later and says the app will remain free to use, with no advertising in either plan.

More than 1,000 people are already on Sanct Social, across the 12 countries where the app is available.

The first step is simple: add a person you already know, choose who can see your first post and share a small part of your day. A photo of dinner is enough.
